Days 1
A representative from our company will meet you at the airport and transfer you to El Rodeo in San Jose. Overnight at El Rodeo (or similar), standard room.
Days 2
You will be picked up early morning, for the approximately 3 hour drive to Cano Blanco Port. You will be traveling with a bilingual naturalist guide on an air conditioned bus. On the way you will stop for breakfast at Selva Tropical Restaurant where you can enjoy a butterfly garden with a variety of tropical flowers. After breakfast we will continue our trip to Caño Blanco deck driving by banana plantations. At Caño Blanco, you will board the covered boat to the lodge, passing the Tortuguero canals arriving between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the lodge our staff will be waiting for you with a refreshing cocktail, your rooms will be assigned and the guide will explain the afternoon activities after lunch -the visit to the Turtle Museum of the C.C.C. (Caribbean Conservation Corporation) (there is a $1 contribution requested at the entrance) and to the colorful Tortuguero town. You will return to the lodge around 5:15 p.m. free time to enjoy the pool, the bar service and prepare for your dinner. Dinner service from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and then rest of the night free to enjoy the surroundings, pool and bar. Tortuguero is considered one of the world’s major nesting sites for the Atlantic green turtle, you can see these great creatures during the nesting season between July and October (nesting season) (the night turtle tour is not included). Days 3
Optional 6:15 am tour to admire the awakening of the wildlife of Tortuguero. Return for breakfast (service between 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). Then another boat tour to admire the canals of Tortuguero National Park. This is a wonderful and interesting experience where you can see abundant flora and fauna of Tortuguero National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch and free time for a siesta, enjoy the pool or go for a walk to the beach. Then you have another optional tour to the canals or stay at the lodge to explore the private trails of the lodge, visit the open butterfly garden or simply enjoy the pool. Days 4
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic boat ride back to the Caño Blanco Port. Then bus ride to Selva Tropical Restaurant, where you will have lunch. Then, shuttle transfer to the Arenal area. The flawless silhouette of Arenal Volcano, its loud rumblings and frequent explosions of lava and ash are a sight not to be missed by any visitor to Costa Rica. Afternoon arrival to the Arenal Paraiso Hotel, your home-base for that night. Evening free to relax or explore the area.Overnight at Arenal Paraíso, standard room (or similar). LUNCH INCLUDED
Days 5
This is an afternoon tour (pick up at 3:00 pm). Visit the volcanic thermal mineral pools at Tabacón Hot Springs, then continue to Arenal Lake at sunset. Arenal Volcano is breathtaking after dark when its thundering explosions and bursts of glowing rock light the night sky. Dinner is served in Ecotermales Restaurant. Days 6
Morning pickup at the hotel for the scenic jeep/boat/jeep transfer to Monteverde through Lake Arenal. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is one of the most diverse and richest tropical cloud forests in the New World and home to the resplendent Quetzal and the rare bell bird. Monteverde is not only interesting for the Cloud Forest Reserve’s inhabitants, but also for its founders, the Quakers. Trapp Family Lodge will be your home-base for two nights. After check in feel free to explore your new surroundings. Overnight at Trapp Family Lodge, standard room (or similar).
Days 7
In the morning, you will set out to discover the secrets of the misty forest with its dense vegetation and majestic trees. Morning pick up at the hotel for the Monteverde Cloudforest Hike Tour. In the afternoon, enjoy an adventure at the Sky Trek. This is a system of three platforms suspended above the ground in the midst of tree boughs. Ziplines attached from one platform to another will allow you to slide with the use of special equipment. Overnight at Trapp Family Lodge, standard room.
Days 8
Return to San Jose in the morning. The rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure to explore San Jose active nightlife. Overnight at El Rodeo (or similar).
