Days 1
This day our tour guide and driver will be waiting for your arrival at Managua International Airport. Short transfer to the colonial city of Granada, where we will start for a walk through the historic center of the city, the oldest town in Americas mainland, visiting the most important monuments: the Cathedral, San Francisco convent and its Pre-Columbian statue collection, the Merced Church and the famous "Casa de Los Leones". At noon we will enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant of the city. Following by horse drawn carriage we will go to the Great Lake Nicaragua where we will enjoy our excursion to the natural and romantic "Isletas", an archipelago of 350 little islands just offshore Granada. After this refreshing boat tour enjoying also the tropical vegetation and bird life, we will return to Granada. Accommodation at Hotel Darío ***** Included meal today : Lunch and dinner
Days 2
We will start this fascinating excursion by visiting the Masaya Volcano National Park. Here we will drive up hill and arrive just at the border of the Santiago crater, where we will be able to observe the impressive activity of this volcano. At visitor center we will learn about volcanoes and sismology in Central America. Continuation to the town of Masaya where we will have the opportunity to get immersed in the daily life of the Nicaraguan people, visiting the popular market of Masaya. Shopping is tremendous here. You can find all traditional handicrafts Nicaragua at very reasonable prices. Our lunch will be taken in a local restaurant overlooking the Masaya Lagoon, Following we will stop by the town of Catarina best known for specializing in growing ornamental plants. We will also enjoy the unique view over Apoyo Lagoon and the whole region. We will continue our trip and visit the beautiful little town of San Juan de Oriente, known for its beautiful pottery. Days 3
This morning we will have an early pick up at the hotel, after a 1 hour and a half drive to the port of San Jorge, our ferry will take us across the great lake of Nicaragua to the volcanic island of Ometepe. Once we arrive at the island our private transportation will be awaiting to take us to Playa Santo Domingo, passing several colorful little villages. On our drive we will make a brief stop at the Altagracia town and visit its museum, as well as the famous Charco Verde. We will enjoy several rural sceneries and learn about the agriculture of the region. Our lunch will be at the Villa Paraiso hotel with a magnificent lake view side restaurant. After out lunch we will have time to take a walk on the beach before going back to Moyogala and catch the last ferry to San Jorge, here our driver will be waiting to take us back to Granada. Days 4
Early start in the morning- Our day will begin by visiting the first city of León built in 1524 by Francisco Hernandez de Córdoba and left by its inhabitants 60 years later, because of scaring activities caused by the Volcano Momotombo. León Viejo has been declared in the year 2000 by UNESCO a “heritage site of humanity” as a symbol of Spanish conquest. . After this fascinating visit we will enjoy our lunch at a typical restaurant in the second largest city of Nicaragua. Following, we will discover the charms of the actual León, enjoying the attractions of this cultural city, its churches, monuments, markets, and learn about its rich history, including its most famous former resident Rubén Darío, Father of Nicaraguan poetry. Days 5
Today we will visit the capital city of the country. Managua has been Nicaragua's capital since 1851 and today more than 1/3 of the country population lives there. During this excursion we will witness the evidence of the 1972 earthquake on old Managua, as well as the emerging new Managua city, product of a rapid growth. We will visit it’s both Cathedrals, Lake Managua, visit the recently renovated National Palace (containing most of Nicaraguan culture and history), the famous “ Huellas de Acahualinca”, the oldest human footprints on the American Continent, which are 6000 years old. We will enjoy our lunch in a typical restaurant of the city. This tour also presents the dramatic differences of the two societies between the rich and poor and the contrasts that exist in many other ways as well and shows the visitors the urban daily life in an unforgettable way. Return to Granada, where we will visit the Great Lake Nicaragua here we will enjoy our excursion to the natural and romantic "Isletas", an archipelago of 350 little islands just offshore Granada. Days 6
This day will be at your entire disposal to relax under the sun. In the morning our transportation will be waiting in order to take you to one of the most beautiful beaches of the country, Pochomil. This day you will be able to enjoy a refreshing bath. Our delicious lunch will be taken admiring the view. We will spend the day in the hotel of Vistamar where we will have the opportunity to enjoy its facilities. At the end of the afternoon transfer back to Granada.
